Decent magazine, but not what it used to be September 3, 2010 valuemeal2 I have been subscribing to AG Magazine since 1993, the very beginning. (Yes, that means I'm in my 20s now.) I am reluctant to let go of my subscription since I have been a subscriber for so long and have nearly every issue, but honestly, the quality of the magazine has gone so far downhill in the past years that I'm considering letting my long-running subscription run out soon. The magazine used to be focused on history, incorporating stories about the American Girl historical girls (Felicity, Samantha, etc) and history lessons (for example, a story about Samantha learning to ride a bike was followed by an article focusing on the history of girls riding bikes since the 1700s), famous art/paintings, paper dolls made out of real girls who sent in stories about their ancestry, short stories by famous authors from well-respected literature, and much more. These days, it's mostly about "easy things to cook" or "making mini crafts for your dolls". I don't think that the AG magazine is a bad magazine, and I do like the positive message it sends to girls (especially when so many other magazines are focused on makeup, boys, and fashion), but it's not the fun, educational look into history that it once was. If I weren't already a longtime subscriber, I definitely wouldn't start now. My children (if and when I have any) will be reading my old back issues for sure... but the current ones are really not worth saving.
My 10 old loves it August 30, 2010 Shops around (Little Rock, AR) This magazine subscription was intended for both of my girls. My 7 year old is not interested in it but my 10 year old loves it. I would highly recommend this magazine and will continue to purchase it for them.
my daughters love this magazine!!!! August 15, 2010 lynn bell (Clinton Twp, MI United States) great for my daughters. they are 9 and 11 and have been reading it for about two years and it is still relevant for them. Great magazine.
Great Magazine for young girls July 2, 2010 Sallie I get this magazine for my 9 yr. old daughter and she just loves it. It has so much great information about how to handle everyday things. Fun ideas too.
SLOW, haven't received product June 24, 2010 Novelli (Texas) This product has a freakishly long shipping time for some unexplainable reason because the magazine industry exists on another planet FAR FAR away and even though they charge you shipping, sending you the magazine is NOT really their priority. I wish I'd bought it at Walmart.
