Product Description Mr. Gasket Electric Fuel Pump is compatible with gasoline based fuels and additives. This universal electric fuel pump eliminates vapor lock and flooding. It requires approximately one amp average draw at maximum delivery. This pump is a great stand alone or booster pump. It works well as a fuel transfer pump and includes fittings and mounting hardware.

great for motorcycles July 10, 2010 Douglas (Fort Worth, TX) I bought this pump to replace a stock pump on a carberated motorcycle, it works great and is $150 dollars cheaper than the factory pump. I would recommend this pump for any carberated street bike.
Thanks; Doug

We used to buy electric (not electronic) fuel pumps for $12 back in the day. I was surprised when I went shopping for a new one, and this was the cheapest one I could find. Well, I guess you still get what you pay for. Mine did not even make the 10 minutes, more like 2 minutes. Obviously a very poor product, and the bean counters at Mr. Gasket would do well to drop this manufacturer and shop elsewhere in China. I will definitely be wary of Prestolite products in the future.
Not the best but also not the worst December 19, 2009 Tom Tinker (Oakland, CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I drive a '68 GMC and used to get about 15 years from each of the standard-equipment mechanical fuel pumps. When replacement mechanical pumps became unavailable I switched to a Delco universal electric that lasted a little over 6 years -- still not too bad. That first Delco was mounted in the engine compartment, on top of the fender, a foot or so from where the old mechanical pump had been. I never knew it to lose prime in any weather. When the first Delco died I replaced it with a Mr. Gasket 42S in the same location. That DID lose prime regularly in warm weather, hence the "not the best" part of my review title. In fairness, the instructions did say to mount it lower down and away from engine heat.
I left the 42S in place as a spare and installed a second Delco next to it. Unlike the first Delco, the second one did lose prime so I moved it down between the frame rails. It worked fine for 6 months, then failed -- a checkvalve came apart. I put the 42S back into service (pulling fuel THROUGH the bad Delco) long enough to get myself home, then replaced the second Delco with a third. THAT one failed after 5 months and I put the 42S back into service the same way as before. I've driven about 10 miles on it this time with no problem. I just bought a second 42S to mount down on the frame as my main fuel pump and I plan to keep the first 42S right where it is as a spare.
Contrary to the warnings of another reviewer, my first 42S seems to have stood up just fine to a year of engine-compartment conditions (though admittedly, most of the time it wasn't running, just sitting there waiting for the main pump to fail). Installed down below according to instructions, it wouldn't even encounter engine heat and vibration. If for any reason my second 42S doesn't do as well as the first, I'll be sure to mention it here.
Updated (4/17/10) to add:
Four months and several hundred miles later, the new 42S is still doing fine.
